Thomas Cushing is elected Speaker of the House of Representatives.
May 25, 1774
Samuel Adams is elected Clerk. The House elects 28 Councilors, but 13 are negatived by Gov. Thomas Gage, including John Adams and James Bowdoin. Gage prorogues the General Court and instructs it to reconvene in Salem on June 7, 1774. He dissolves the last General Court of the Province there on June 17, 1774.
